Bloo Lagoon Eco Resort

This resort is for the “Connoisseur of the Simple” as its artist/architect creator termed it. And it's in “Old Bali” in the east, with nearby villages where the way of life has changed little over the centuries. This is a particularly family-friendly resort.

SUMMARY

Day 1: Transfers, Cocktails and Welcome dinner.

Day 2: Intro painting workshop; Evening Sketching around Bloo; Cocktails; Balinese menu dinner. Optional Tour: Eco diving class, complimentary one hour spa treatment or Pura Silayukti or Tenganan Pegeringsingan.

Day 3: Architecture/Sculpture Site workshop: Tirtagangga Water Palace; Lunch at Tirtagangga Restaurant. Optional Tour to Perasi beach or complimentary one hour spa treatment.

Day 4: Painting from Architecture sketches or photo, or Expressive/abstract manner; Dinner Padang Bai. Optional tour: Visit Puri Agung Karanagasem Palace and stop at Perasi, a pristine white sandy beach en-route. Dinner at Padang Bai.

Day 5: Landscape workshop: Ujung Water palace; Lunch at Puri Gede, another palace at Karangasem. Optional Tour: Snorkelling or fishing at any one of the nearby beaches or complimentary one hour spa treatment: or visit Pura Silayukti.

Day 6: Painting from Sketches or photo, or Expressive/abstract manner; Dinner and Barong Dance Display. Optional Tour: Eco diving or visit Tenganan Pegeringsingan or complimentary one hour spa treatment.

Day 7:  Optional Morning Tour: Kamasan village (Balinese classic painting); Kertagosa Justice Hall; then local market and Goa Lawah Temple. Afternoon (included): Life Model/cultural dress Sketch/paint. 

Day 8: Check out and transfer to airport or next destination.

Note: Rate includes 30% Discount for 2 pax booking (non participating partner or friend), and 20% discount for 2 pax booking (participating partner or friend). Two children travelling and staying with two parents are included in rate for parents. All local taxes and service charges are included.

Villas are minimal, contemporary, with traditional thatched roofs, yet elegantly designed, set in landscaped gardens. Twenty-five unique villas (one, two and three bedrooms) are designed with open spaces that flow indoors to outdoors. Various floorplans are suitable for singles, couples and families. All have equipped kitchens and all have ocean views.

Itinerary

Day 1 (D)

  • You are met at the airport and transferred to the resort (about 1.5 hour drive).
  • Welcome and check-in.
  • Time to nest and explore the resort at leisure, dip in the pool or take your complimentary one hour spa treatment at Spa Biroo and deeply relax.
  • Cocktails by the pool and Introduction.
  • Welcome dinner at the open-air Azool Restaurant.

Day 2 (B,L,D)

  • Optional: Morning Yoga (minimum two people per class) in a pavilion with wonderful views, to prepare the mind and body for your creative adventure.
  • Breakfast around the pool.
  • Morning painting workshop: Warm up, brush up or show off! This is a skills-based workshop using a still life hand prepared or made by local craftsmen and villagers.
  • Buffet lunch by the pool included.
  • Afternoon at leisure. Time to take your complimentary one hour spa treatment at Spa Biroo (bookings essential – see reception) or an optional Eco diving class; or take a trip to Pura Silayukti Temple, where Empu Kuturan introduced the system of the castes in the Xle century. Alternatively, visit First Village at Tenganan Pegeringsingan, an ancient fortress village dating back to at least the 11th century, Tenganan preserves certain ways life lost to the rest of Bali. It is regarded by the Balinese as a ‘senior’ village or “Bali Aga”. This is the home of the famous “ikat” a double woven cloth, now a collectors item.
  • Evening sketching around Bloo which has fantastic views to Candi Dasa, Padang Bai fishing village, or to Blue Lagoon Beach; as well as a wonderful garden with statuary.
  • Cocktails by the pool.
  • Dinner at Azool Restaurant with a Balinese menu and East Balinese specialties.

Day 3 (B,L)

  • Optional Morning Yoga (minimum  two people per class)  to prepare the mind and body for your creative adventure in our purpose built bale overlooking the sea.
  • Breakfast around the pool.
  • Workshop: Morning Architecture/Sculpture Site – Tirtagangga Water Palace, one of the world's most romantic gardens. Gushing springs flow from beneath an ancient Banyan tree and a holy temple fill the myriad reflecting and swimming pools that grace the Water Palace.
  • Lunch at Tirtagangga Restaurant.
  • Optional Tour to Perasi, a pristine white sandy beach - approx. 30 minutes drive (max 7 people per car), or time to take your one hour complimentary spa treatment.
  • Free choice for dinner.

Day 4 (B)

  • Optional Morning Yoga (minimum  two people per class).
  • Breakfast around the pool.
  • Painting from Architecture sketches or photo. Alternatively, you can learn to become more expressive or explore abstract painting, based on your experience of the previous day.
  • Afternoon at leisure or take an Optional Tour to Puri Agung Karanagasem, a palace which was built in 19th Century by Anak Agung Gede Jelantik, the first king of Karangasem Kingdom and which consists of unique architectural combination of Balinese, Chinese and European styles. On the return journey, we'll stop at Perasi, a pristine white sandy beach - approx. 30 minutes drive (max 7 people per car).
  • We’ll take you by Shuttle to a Dinner at one of the best local restaurants in Padang Bai – Omang2, Topi Inn, Manggala or Grand Café (at own cost).

Day 5 (B)

  • Optional Morning Yoga (Minimum two people per class).
  • Breakfast around the pool.
  • Morning Landscape workshop. Ujung Water palace, built by the father of the king  who built TirtaGangga, between 1912 and 1919.It lies on the seaside at Ujung, and consists of three large ponds at the base of a steep hill that is surmounted by the ruins of a small gazebo. In the middle of the largest pond is the royal residence, connected to the shore by two bridges. The center of the second largest pool contains a pavilion for musical performances. From the top of the hill you can get a great view of the ocean and the beach lined with fishing boats.
  • Lunch at Puri Gede, another palace at Kerangasem, at own cost.
  • Afternoon and evening at leisure or take an Optional Tour, snorkeling or fishing at any one of the nearby beaches; time to take your complimentary one hour spa treatment; or take a trip to Pura Silayukti Temple, where Empu Kuturan introduced the system of the castes in the Xle century.
  • Free choice for dinner.

Day 6 (B,D)

  • Optional Morning Yoga (minimum two people per class).
  • Breakfast around the pool.
  • Morning Painting workshop: Use your Landscape sketches or photo, or learn to become more expressive or explore abstract painting, based on your experience of the previous day.
  • Afternoon and evening at leisure or take an Optional Tour Eco diving or visit Tenganan Pegeringsingan, an ancient fortress village dating back to at least the 11th century, Tenganan preserves certain ways life lost to the rest of Bali. It is regarded by the Balinese as a ‘senior’ village or “Bali Aga”. This is the home of the famous “ikat” a double woven cloth, now a collectors item.
  • Dinner at Bloo and Barong Dance Performance, narrating the fight between good and evil. This dance is the classic example of Balinese way of acting out mythology, resulting in myth and history being blended into one reality.

Day 7 (B,D)

  • Optional Morning Yoga (minimum two people per class).
  • Breakfast around the pool.
  • Optional Morning tour: A visit to Kamasan village famous as the centre of one of the classical painting styles of ancient Bali dating back more than three centuries. We then visit to Kertagosa Justice Hall, to view painted panels which decorate the ceilings of the pavilions, once part of the former Semarapura palace, home to the highest ruler of Bali. Next we take in the local market before returning to Bloo via a stop at bat cave of Goa Lawah temple, one of six Sad-Kahyangan, or State Temples and thought to be over 1000 years old.
  • Free choice for lunch.
  • Afternoon Life Drawing Workshop: Sketch or paint from a Life Model in cultural dress.
  • Farewell Dinner BBQ, cocktails and presentation at Azool Restaurant.

Day 8 (B)

  • Breakfast around the pool.
  • Check out and transfer to airport or next destination. Time to say goodbye to new-found friends and reflect on all you've learnt and experienced in Bali.

Note: The following activities for children are available to book at this resort to allow parents guilt-free time to relax or to participate in other tours:

  • Kite making (min. two participants). Learn make and fly a kite – a favourite pastime of Balinese children. We provide all materials. Approximate time of completion 2 hours.
  • Balinese Dance lesson (min. two participants). Learn to dance the Balinese way, from a traditional teacher from the local village. Approximate time of completion 2 hours.
  • Beach game adventure (min. two participants). Kids will be taken on a walk to the beach in town and, guided by our baby sitter, have some fun on the beach and the surrounding places near town harbour. Approximate time of completion 2 hours.
  • Visit to Bali Safari and Marine Park (min. two participants). This is the Jungle Hopper package incl. Safari Journey trip, Front of the Line, Fresh Water Aquarium, Animal Encounter, Water Park, and  Fun Zode Rides. Please see Bali Safari and Marine Park for more information. Approximate time of completion 6-7 hours. Meals inside the park are at extra cost.
